Walsh College Announces New Foundation Board Directors


The Walsh College Board of Trustees has elected Dee Dee McKinney Odom and John Falcon to three-year terms as members of the Walsh College Foundation Board of Directors.

Established in 2004, the Walsh College Foundation Board of Directors serves as the official fundraising arm of the college. The Foundation encourages private giving and ensures the integrity of the college’s philanthropy program.

“We are excited to have Dee Dee and John join the Foundation Board,” said Susan Foley, vice president and chief development officer at Walsh College. “Their dedication to the College over the years is unmistakable. They are both proven business leaders in their communities, and we are certain that they will bring creative and innovative fundraising initiatives to the board.”

Walsh College Recognized as Veteran-Friendly School

For the third consecutive year, Walsh College has been named a Veteran-Friendly School – Gold Level by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA).

The award formally recognizes the College’s commitment to supporting the needs of student veterans and dependents. The program promotes best practices by awarding levels of gold, silver, or bronze to institutions that offer veteran-specific services and programs.

MVAA is a state government agency housed within the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. It connects U.S. Armed Forces veterans and their families to services and benefits throughout the state.

Walsh College Name Michael Rinkus Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer 

Walsh College President and CEO Marsha Kelliher announced the appointment of Michael Rinkus, DBA, as executive vice president and chief academic officer of the College, effective Aug. 7.

Dr. Rinkus served as the interim executive vice president and chief academic officer since April 2016. In this role, Dr. Rinkus oversees academic standards and accreditation, and provides Walsh College with strategic and operational leadership to ensure the academic programs meet the needs of employers, faculty, staff, and students.

Dr. Rinkus has been part of the Walsh community for nearly three decades, serving in a variety of capacities, including full-time professor of finance and economics. Dr. Rinkus’ expertise has been in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in international finance, financial institutions, capital markets, financial statement analysis, and international management.

“We are fortunate to have someone of such caliber on our leadership team,” said Kelliher. “Mike’s decades of experience, not only at Walsh but also in the business world, make him uniquely qualified for this important position. We are excited to have his continued commitment to the school, students, and faculty for years to come.”
