Stephanie Bergeron Endowed Scholarship

Stephanie W. Bergeron became the sixth president and chief executive officer of Walsh College in 2007 after serving as interim president. Prior to becoming the interim president, she served on the Walsh College Board of Trustees for 10 years. President Bergeron retired in May of 2017 from the College and was awarded President Emerita honor from the Board of Trustees.

Throughout her tenure, Bergeron oversaw the launch of major initiatives and academic programs, such as the Driving Aspirations campaign, which raised more than $5 million for scholarships and several programs providing entrepreneurial tools to a variety of targeted groups. She dramatically increased the school’s philanthropy program, and more than doubled the number of donor-funded scholarships.

Additionally, Bergeron oversaw the opening of the award-winning Finance Lab and the $15 million transformation of the Troy campus to a state-of-the-art hub of learning and collaboration. Her experience includes 25 years of corporate finance within the automotive industry. Ms. Bergeron has been a longtime member of the Walsh community, including serving as a trustee since 1996; a member of The Walsh College Foundation board of directors since 2004; and chair of the Academic Committee since 2005.

“It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as president and CEO of Walsh College for the past 10 years,” Bergeron said. “I have great faith in the institution, and have been continually surprised and impressed with the caliber and dedication of the faculty, staff, alumni, and students themselves.

The board of trustees, foundation directors, alumni and friends have created an endowed scholarship in honor of President Bergeron’s service at Walsh College. Unlike most endowed scholarships, which traditionally place specifications on eligibility, such as a particular field of study, this scholarship will be awarded at the College president’s discretion — wherever the need is the greatest.
