The Walsh Impact Fund

The Walsh Impact Fund is a discretionary endowment that ensures much-needed support for Walsh’s most critical needs and most significant strengths including investments in faculty, programs, and services that address current and future students’ evolving interests and requirements. Use of this fund can vary greatly from technology upgrades to community partnerships that support student pathways like Detroit Promise. This fund can also be used for recruitment, student outreach, and to offset the rising costs associated with higher education, increasing Walsh’s ability to attract and support a broad spectrum of talented and deserving students.

Scholarships

More than half of Walsh students currently receive financial assistance. For some, this can be the crucial factor of attendance. While some of this aid comes from federal grants and loans, for many of our students, the gap is bridged by endowed scholarships funded by generous Walsh alumni and friends. Endowed scholarships can also support many of our students who are not eligible for federal aid or traditional scholarships, including graduate, international, and our significant population of part-time students.

Access & Professional Development/Continuing Education Fund

This fund works to remove barriers to education through initiatives such as open educational resources that reduce the need to purchase textbooks, the Community College Excellence Award to assist students transferring from community college, and the Frontliners Award to support front line workers’ access to education.

The Access & Professional Development/Continuing Education Fund will allow Walsh College to implement and develop educational pathways like pre-college summer camps and non-degree certifications that allow students to build valuable job entry skills.

When I am feeling overwhelmed, I think about this scholarship and it’s like a hand on my shoulder reminding me that nothing is impossible and hard work does not go unnoticed. Anna Duffer, DeRoy Scholarship Recipient
